For this assignment I had to dive into the rich and eclectic world of 'sailor Jerrry' tattoos. I was commissioned to illustrate a window mural for the opening of a new bar named The Dirty Rabbit. The illustration went after completion on the main window next to the entrance.
This composition was made using typical recurring elements and themes of this art form. The mural was designed to evoke the essence of the name rather than interpret it literally. The only reference to the name of the bar was in the form of the skulls front teeth, lacerating the skin of the snake.
The window mural had to be visually engaging from far away as from close by. So for the smokers outside, there are little details to discover, for example the veins in the eyeball forming the words, save me.
The finishing touch was the metal gate going over the window, as if it was trying to contain the mischievous world of The Dirty Rabbit.
