The Equality Pill

The only pill that's difficult to swallow. The Equality Pill is a sarcastic advertising campaign which sells the idea of this magic pill that can make everything and everyone equal. It is designed based on medicine campaigns based in Victorian times, where they promised that these weird remedies could cure all kinds of disease. I found one particular campaign called ‘Cigares de Joy’ which implies that smoking cigarettes can help with asthma wheezing and the winter cough. It makes you realise how over-promising these campaign were. The idea behind this project was highlighting the inequalities within sports, The fact is the equality pill is suggestive of more than just making the world equal. It raises a question of how do we make the world equal? The answer is, you can’t. It’s literally impossible. By trying to make some people equal, you end up making others in-equal. It’s probably an unpopular opinion, but it holds such a large degree of truth. The design for the idea started through understanding the culture of 1930-1960s advertising within medicine. There is something slightly sinister about the way these adverts were made, especially given that the testing wasn't as stern as it is today.
