The Lunar Project

  • Georgia Moore

Since the first Moon landing, it has emerged that the Moon is no longer a devoid of life. Recently, it was reported that cotton seeds, planted in a lunar mini biosphere experiment, had begun sprouting, and marks the first time any biological matter has been grown on the moon. With this in mind, I wanted the main theme of my design to revolve around the evolution of these new and unusual celestial plants that could eventually form another world. The aim of the project was to create a narrative that could form part of a display for a Selfridges window display, incorporating 3D contemporary objects that will be constructed using re-appropriated materials, which should inspire and expand the audiences view on space travel, as well as underlining the ongoing development of growing life on another planet.
