The New Normal Showcase
The New Normal Showcase was a two-evening presentation of the first year of research Strelka Institute for Design and Architecture educational programme. The event was featuring new presentations of the core faculty and guest speakers and premiere seven projects by the programme researchers.
Rem Koolhaas, world-famous architect, architectural theorist, founding partner of OMA and winner of the Pritzker Prize and Strelka’s first programme director was opening a showcase with a keynote. The presentation was followed by a public discussion with Benjamin Bratton, education director of the New Normal programme, Professor at UCSD and Sci-Arc. Among the presenters were Julieta Aranda — artist, editor of the e-flux journal, Liam Young — speculative architect, Head of the Fiction and Entertainment programme at Sci-Arc, Keller Easterling, architect, writer and professor at Yale University, Amsterdam-based studio working across art, filmmaking, and design Metahaven. Strelka design projects of the New Normal programme were as well presented by its researchers.
