THE WALLACE COLLECTION - The Winking Cavelier

The collection’s most famous resident is Frans Hals’ Laughing Cavelier, a Baroque masterpiece who was named as such by the Victorian press despite him showing only a smirk.
Inspired by the character’s cheeky demeanor, I decided to let him evolve and make him wink directly at viewers, by turning the image in to a ‘flip’ lenticular. This was then applied to an array of merchandise that made up part of our range displayed in the Wallace Collection’s newly designed shop.
