This Time Is Forever

I was approached by Sacha Bennett of Three Wise Monkeys to edit this music video. The brief was simple, inter-cut the Drama Narrative with the performance. I approached this by cutting the performance first, since I had multiple takes and angles taking up a lot of video layers. It made sense to then take that sequence into another where I built the drama. Having established the rhythm and flow of the Drama narrative, I could then go back to the other timeline and adjust the performance to heighten or reflect the drama, this quickly made Barty the narrator of the piece. The final edit is 95% of the 1st edit, with minimal tweaks and a different grade. I originally had the performance in a rich colour grade, so when the drama switched through the abused mum from the drama into the ladies, it signified the reality of the dramatisation. All in all, this was an amazing experience which when coupled with the good cause, this was one of the most satisfying and fulfilling edits of my career.
