Toy App Design

  • Natasha Jones
This App was in response to RSA brief 'Fair Play - Design or re-design a child's toy using the circular economy principles.'
Thinking outside the box, I designed a Toy Repurposing Service. Here, parents sign up to the service, and are sent toys. (Here's where some blue sky thinking comes in...) The toy then senses when it is no longer being played with and finds itself a new home via the Apps servers. Meanwhile a new toy is sent to the current child.
This service hopes to eliminate toy waste by repurposing and refreshing children's toys when it's necessary. After signing up, there is little to no upkeep needed from the busy parent, as the toy and app does the rest!
The App uses Augmented Reality, circular economy challenges, and fun cartoon toy characters to create a platform for both child and parent to use together in order to learn about the circular economy.
User Experience Prototyping of Toy arriving and unboxing of Toy scenario.
This testing was vital to find pain points in the service.
