Visual Communication Training

THE CHALLENGE Due to Covid, the organization had no choice but shift its events strategy to digital. This meant a large number of people in the organization started creating visual content (presentations and event assets) without any design skills or background. MY ROLE I designed a 90-minute class to bring Forum employees up to speed on the principles of visual communication: this includes communication theory and design thinking as well as the basics of typography, layout, colour and multimedia storytelling. On top of designing the learning material, I designed a promotional video and set up an online space where learners could keep learning together and create a community of practice.

Working closely with another illustrator and a motion designer, I designed and art directed a promotional video for the course. The video was distributed internally as part of an engagement campaign.

Below is a visual overview of the learning journey and some examples of the learning material which formed part of the course.
