A Thousand Words

  • Alberto Serna
If an image is worth a thousand words, what happens to those who can't see those images? A Thousand Words (ATW) is a personal project involving writers across the world to help bring images to life for visually impaired people - using the power of words from those who master them.
ATW works as a user-generated platform offering descriptions of locations from all over the world written by professional writers. By simply searching or allowing the app location access, users are able to find descriptions of landscapes, city spots or viewpoints with audio narration tracks. Descriptions are not only organised by location, but also by time of the year and language. Both the app and site can be voice-guided.
