Alone

This is a book I wrote as the final major project of my illustration degree. It tells the story of a young boy in his room in the dark, and all the things he fears. I use rhyme and illustrations to build suspense until finally the light is turned on. At the end we discover that his fears were nothing more than his imagination, cast away by his family. I wanted to use this story to remind children that any fear can be overcome when we stick together. The story was originally inspired by Cancer Research's slogan 'Together we will cure cancer.' Children tackling the illness can relate to the book and find hope within it at challenging times.
