Chef of the Year 2019 at Unilever

  • Nye Jones

A competitive event organised between Anchor Hanover and Elior as a showcase for the quality and standards of the top chefs within Caterplus, a subsidiary of Elior. The event was held at Unilever HQ in Leatherhead in partnership and sponsored by Unilever Food Solutions. It was a pleasure to work for a second year in a row on this amazing event. I produced a variety of print design materials to cover each stage of the competition. This included competition handbook and application forms, finalist invitations, internal scoring cards, agenda booklet, certificates, display materials, etc. As part of the event branding, I needed to create an identity for the competition, and as it was a very internal focussed event, I wanted to make sure the branding was complimentary to the central brand, Anchor Hanover. In light of Anchor and Hanover’s merger at the end of 2018 to form the new company, and their subsequent rebranding, the previous year’s designs needed an overhaul and I worked alongside Anchor Hanover’s internal brand management team to make sure that all of updated designs met the standards of their new brand with each design being submitted for approval. I was also thrilled to be invited along to photograph the competition for a second year running. Great to watch the chef’s showcase their skills up close. The 6 finalist chefs had to produce two standout dishes to be judged by the UK heads of Anchor Hanover, Elior, an executive chef at Caterplus, and the Development Chef at Unilever Food Solutions. The final competition photos were shared between each of the participating brands with last year’s winning chef holding onto his crown and making it two years in a row amongst fierce competition.
