Connect

A publication looking into how humans connect; through patterns, marks, language and sometimes the lack of. Depending on upbringing, culture and education can determine how a person uses or interprets symbols to connect with the community. Connecting through a unique code of marks and shapes that both parties are aware of and can decipher. I looked into the relationship between known and unknown language, how it can be bridged and if connection can be present with no language at all. This involved creating an original typeface, and the use of portrait photo’s of people I’ve met in various places around the globe - from the Himalayas to Tokyo. The final design was realised in a 16 page publication consisting of 7 different languages and a hidden message connecting them all as one.
