COOKING WITH HEROES

The publication celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Royal British Legion (RBL) and is written by volunteers from all three Armed Forces, including military chefs, who have provided delicious and authentic recipes from 100 regions around the world in which the Legion has operated. While working on the cover, I developed several concepts using different approaches such as photography, typography and eventually a different book size. Eventually the art direction and cover concept was inspired by the concept of bringing together a range of different ingredients and tools with the Royal Legion and poppy at its centre. I illustrated all the different kitchen utensils and ingredients to accompany the new branding identity of the Legion. Additionally I worked very closely with the editorial team to create a unique template system for the inside of the publication showcasing not only the recipes, but also stunning food photography. The templates accommodate a range of different content including recipes, stories from RBL’s heroes as well as advertising content.
