Deceptively simple and functional

Deceptively Simple and Functional explores the integration of traditional textile materials with non-traditional textile materials, using traditional textile techniques and non-traditional textile methods. The materials are designed to provide or enhance a specific function(s), these include Waterproofing, Thermal Insulation and Impact Protection. The project explored the potential of creating increased functionality in a textile through the integration of traditional and non-traditional textile materials. As a result, the project aims to explore joining profiles and adhesion, observe physical and chemical changes, and undertake functional tests to determine the level of functionality within each piece. The created pieces are envisioned for an Outerwear application, although are functional for other purposes i.e. fashion accessories (bags) and interiors for automobiles.
