First Things First is a manifesto written in 1963 and published in 1964 by Ken Garland and 20 other designers, photographers and students. In 1999 Rick Poynor published an article on Emigre 51 where he revisited the manifesto written by Garland and in 2000 thirty-three visual communicators renew the 1964 call for a change of priorities. These three scripts have been put together into a booklet, with the only rule to choose and use just one font, in a single weight. The chosen font is Helvetica Neue, bold.
