Hostile Architecture

  • Lawrence Wong

I recently completed a course from IDEO U called, "From Ideas to Action." This course allowed us to Iterate and Prototype, fail, and Diverge and Converge. By reframing a problem and sticking with it, a collaborative and creative prototype can come about. I, on the other hand, extended my research skills and came across existing prototypes that were being questioned of its very existence. It was truly a brain teaser. What I have found was: Safety & Security is a basic Human Need and it is highly subjective on how it can be implemented. But Safety & Security can not please everyone. In order for all of us to co-exist, there has to be some unpleasantries.
