Hot Right Now with Riyadh Khalaf

Hot Right Now is a one of a kind series that sees BBC Masterchef Winner and best selling author, Riyadh Khalaf uncover some of the world's most weird and wonderful individuals, subcultures and trends in an explorative show that puts him at the centre of their world. The series explores a wide variety of subject matters including lawnmower racing, virtual reality sports, bird poo facials and more. As producer of the show, I develop ideas with the Riyadh and the YMU team, co-writing the narrative, finding the groups and individuals to contribute to the episode, and organise the logistics of each shoot. Once we’re on set, my role as director sees me leading a small crew on location, working directly with Riyadh and the contributors. And whilst we do work to a prewritten shot list, we often have to be light on our feet; reactive to any sudden and unexpected changes that happen on the day. This has led to some of the most exciting moments within the series so far! As this is an ongoing series, I work closely with the team at YMU to ensure that we are meeting deadlines for each episodes release, creating social cutdowns that are reactive to current events, and providing feedback to editors within pre-agreed timelines.
