Interchangeable

  • Anna Beck
'Interchangeble' took inspiration from the natural folds, curves and textures found within exotic shells. The surfaces have been translated through contemporary fabric manipulation, with the incorporation of unconventional fastenings as a means of providing both practical function, and embelishment details.
Leather and neoprene materials have been combined together to create double sided materials , representing the contrast of surfaces found within shells; rough and smooth, and glossy and matte.
The project consists of fabric surface design samples, aimed at the high end luxury handbag market. The concept behind this project looks into the increasing unsustainable demand for constant change within the fashion industry, and how this could be potentially resolved through the approach of interchangeable textile based surfaces
