I was Initially struck by my idea of using human hair as a material when I encountered an archive of woven horsehair samples. Working with the ideas behind human hair before, this was something I really wanted to continue and bring forward into my textile practice. Hair as a substance has been seen as an object of both beauty and disgust. It seems when the hair is no longer connected to the host it transitions into an object of repulsion. It is a material that is traceable (DNA) and is entirely personal. I like addressing concepts through making cloth, with the material leading progression.
