Making It: In Design podcast was born out of my own concern with the lack of gender diversity in the design industry, especially in senior positions. Even though a large amount of women study design, this is not translating into the industry and it is still overwhelmingly male. In order to do something about this I decided to interview women and gender non-conforming designers in senior positions about their experiences, find out how they got where they are today and how they overcame any barriers they faced. The first season has just finished and it was a real success. It even got to number 4 in the UK Design Podcast charts. None of this would have been possible with the amazing guests sharing their stories: Caterina Bianchini, Nidia Dias, Lauren Harewood, Marina Willer & Sthuthi Ramesh. As well as the great team of women that helped put it together Nidia Dias (animation), Kelly Barrow (Naming), Emily Osbourne (editing), Esther Press (copy) and Charlotte Rohde (typefaces (Marguerite & Keroine). Listen to series 1 on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. Season 2 coming soon!
