Misfits

  • Alexander Neumann
“Misfits is an easy to play, block-based game for three to four players. Misfits was originally developed for this year’s D&AD New Blood Awards, and was judged by representatives of Hasbro Games, Big Potato, and Leslie Scott, the inventor of Jenga. An additional version of the game was made for the Chelsea Graphic Design graduation show, examining the logistics, cost and any further innovations to make Misfits a commercially viable product.
Each player is allocated ten blocks; players take turns stacking these blocks to create the Misfits Tower. The first person to get rid of all of their blocks wins the game. Misfits can be played in a variety of settings – the game was tested at a party, a pub, a studio and an intimate gathering of friends. Game testers praised Misfits as ‘attention-grabbing’, ‘easy to play’, and ‘loved the suspense.’ Misfits has also received encouraging feedback from recruiters of ASOS, Unilever, Arcadia Group as well as game recruiters. The game was also shortlisted for the £5,000 SEED Fund, and a Tier 1 entrepreneurial visa.
Misfits can also become a digital experience, broadening the reach of the game’s audience to anyone with a digital device.”
