Patient Information Booklets

  • Erin McIntosh

Brief: Design a new approachable and reassuring style of print publication which helps patients to manage their condition. Role: Design, Typography, Layout, Illustration Outcomes: Being diagnosed with a new condition, or experiencing changes to your health can be scary. Patients need accessible, reassuring information which empowers them to understand and manage their health. Using simple, friendly illustrations, positive colours and practical layout I produced a new style of ‘Your Guide To’ booklets for future patient communications. I carefully chose illustrations which represented the conditions’ symptoms or management tips without being scary or off-putting. I used a simple vector illustration style to suit the adult audience, adding subtle textured gradients to soften. I used boxed text layouts in ‘sticky note’ or check-list styles to create digestible sections of text which are easy for patients to follow.
