DYS...Delete yourself! This project examines 'Other' than, to be 'Foreign' to feel fear of the Unknown, to be Dys/Placed in a Place called Home. The seating takes place in large Army trucks. The Performance begins with volunteer members of the audience entering the stage, cotton bags placed over their heads, as they are silently led to an empty truck, as sounds of an industrial fan and dripping tap echo. They can only imagine what's about to happen to them, from the sounds that they rely upon, which will determine their fate...while at the same time the rest of the audience are witness to a group of proud Eastern European Women lovingly preparing a celebration tea for their 'blindfolded' foreign guests . These photos were taken during the R&D stage and took place in my sitting room (needs must) the leather Sofa represents one of the Army trucks where a group of refugees are found dead except for one survivor whose found underneath them. Her movements create a ripple effect as she desperately tries to get out...once imprisoned, the dead start to roll down the ramp from the truck that they hoped would find them freedom. The R&D was a great success, the interdisciplinary Art production includes dance influenced by Pina Bausch, Spoken Word in Patois, and Comedy as well as harrowing moments of complete despair, where the blindness of others to such horrific acts make them (almost?) complicit. We are now seeking funds. Any Philanthropists inspired by this, please get in touch, for more details. transforumtheatrecompany@gmail.com
