RE:CALL Stories, Symbols and Simulations

  • Maria Herrero Tejada

A two day conference curated by MACC which examined the concept of collective and personal memory, and how these build our general understanding of identity and history through archives. The first day, focusing on the more human side of archival methodologies and practices, and the second day taking focus on how new technologies, such as AI, have been used in the creation of new memories, histories but also its limitations and biases. Contributions such as panels discussions, presentations, seminars, screenings and performances took place for a well-balanced and dynamic conference. ‘Rooted: Curating Countercultures and Embodied Practices’ is the panel I mediated in this conference with Steph and Charmaine. This panel discussion was firstly introduced by two short presentations by both Steph and Charmaine, touching on their embodies praxis and the use of countercultural values as a curatorial methodology, followed by a conversation with them, moderated by me. 22nd - 23rd November 2024 Curated by the MA Curating and Collections Cohort.
