Harrods x Serpentine Galleries Future Contemporaries Party

The Serpentine partnered with Harrods for the 2016 Future Contemporaries Party, which took place in the Serpentine Sackler Gallery. In its 9th year, the Future Contemporaries Party has established a reputation as an unmissable night on London’s social calendar, bringing together leading young artists, philanthropists and supporters to raise funds for the Serpentine’s acclaimed art, architecture, design, education and public programmes.

In addition to a live performance by singer-songwriter Jack Peñate, as well as top celebrated DJs, partygoers took a break from the dancefloor to relax inside an installation designed by award-winning artist and architect Alessandro Bava. One of the central galleries was transformed into a speakeasy featuring a brass bar - inspired by those in the Harrods Food Halls- with live acoustic music. Text from a specially commissioned story by American author Alexandra Kleeman was projected throughout the Gallery.

The Future Contemporaries, one of the first schemes of its kind in the UK, was founded by the Serpentine in 2007 to foster a new generation of philanthropists. This diverse group of individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions share an enthusiasm for contemporary art, architecture and design. Members enjoy a tailored programme of exclusive events that give unique insight into the contemporary art world, offering members the opportunity to engage in a range of debates surrounding contemporary art and collecting.
