Spatial Forms

  • Aine Kelly

The Spatial Forms photograms bypass the use of the camera entirely and display a direct reinterpretation of the material and form to light and shadow. The structures used to make these photograms are flat transparent materials manipulated with the aid of cutting and thread. The aim of this work is to bring back a sense of curiosity and wonder to the photographical image making process as photography has become increasingly integral to modern life. The resulting image presents what obstructs the light and delineates the ambiguity of depth from a photographic perspective. In doing so, the work reveals what is lost and gained in the photographical image making process.
