TAC-TILES explores the relationship between architecture and abstraction when looking at the Royal Arcade in Bournemouth, to develop a contemporary surface design suitable to enter in the BEAF container competition. Focusing on sensory and tactile elements, the interlocking rhombuses create a modular surface design by abstracting simple shapes and colour from the interior architecture of the building. The combination of contemporary techniques such as laser cutting and UV printing demonstrates geometric manipulation, whilst the final texture reflects the young and vibrant aesthetics of the local area.
