University for the DIY generation.

University is on its last legs. It can no longer offer value for money to a generation that knows a degree no longer guarantees you a job. Tuition fees are up, student satisfaction is down, and universities are stubbornly refusing to adjust their model to keep up with the times. If ever a business was perfectly poised for disruption, higher education is it.
YouTube has thousands of instructional videos, but there are so many that it can be hard to sort through them all to achieve your learning objectives. A new channel ''UniTube'' will hand-pick the highest quality and most coherent videos to curate a series of courses which will provide young people with the knowledge and skills they need to pursue their chosen career.
UniTube will be launched via a competition to find the inaugural class. People will be invited to apply for their chosen course, and ten will be chosen to follow a 9 month tailored programme, at the end of which they will do a 6 week work experience placement organised by YouTube. The students will create a weekly video log of their progress as they go along, and what happens to them after graduation will also be documented.

The focus will be on practical hands-on skills and techniques. Suggested courses include: Coding Graphic Design Web design Cad Design Make Up Artist Photography and retouching Excel expert Bookkeeping Marketing Translator SEO and Wordpress Journalism/Creative writing
