Voice of Colour | FLOW | Shaping the Future Expressions of Architects and Designers

  • Justine Fox

During LDF19, Calzada Fox curated a series of architect-focused talks for Johnstone's Trade part of the PPG group at the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, London. With an increasingly dense urban landscape evolving to manage population growth and migration, FLOW explores the role of colour in supportive human-centric design for the future. Taking the PPG Voice of Colour 2020 Colour of The Year, Chinese Porcelain (PPG1160-6) as its cue, this installation creates a moment of simplicity and mind space for you to refocus and realign. An adaptive hue, Chinese Porcelain although seemingly calm, has an underlying energy that feels refreshing without overstimulating the senses. Follow the flow of natural and enhanced light as it interacts with this colour to experience the natural versatility of all colour. Each piece within FLOW is designed to optimise proportional harmony and balance product performance innovation with the emotional resonance of colour. A well-attended event during London Design Festival held at The Ace Hotel, Shoreditch, our inspiration line-up included guest speaker Laura Sanjuan, Soda Studio being interviewed by journalist Dominic Lutyens, PPG's Donna Taylor being interviewed by Calzada Fox co-founder Carolina Calzada-Oliveira and co-founder Justine Fox speaking about colour in urban planning. Special thanks to USM Modular Shelving for their support.
