Zero: Nothing yet Everything.

  • Ben Grove

This project was my entry into the ISTD competition 2020, following the brief to make numbers more interesting. I decided it would be a good idea to look into the deep history of numbers as a whole, finding interest in the number and numeral of zero and what that represented in different cultures. My final outcome for the competition consisted of a book printed on tracing paper, representing the idea of zero being nothing and everything in all cultures and throughout history. I also felt creating a book that uses a lot of white space, allowing for text to flow through the book when laid out flat allowed for the representation of nothingness.
