2018 YCN Childline Submission

For the 2018/19 YCN Student completion I chose to do the childline brief which focussed on creating a way of communicating to young people of how to help them through some tough situations and realise they aren't alone and childline is there if they need them. The outcome was to be social media and illustration based. I chose to create a set of 3 comic strips that would demonstrate coping strategies for younger people to follow with simple steps and illustrations showing the progression through the coping strategy. This meant they wouldn't need to hunt through websites with vast quantities of text that they are unlikely to understand easily.

The first comic strip was focussed on helping young people through a panic attack by focussing on an object and bringing their breathing under control.
The second comic strip was focussed on helping young people through stressful situations like studying by using music that they find calming.
The third comic strip was focussed on helping young people when they are feeling low by reaching out to someone to talk to and help. Texting was used here as some people when feeling low struggle to communicate verbally.
