A research project into the philosophy of hand gestures. A Quick Guide To Understanding Hand Gestures is a digital publication that contextualises the theoretical framework of David McNeill against a selection of news announcements/speeches regarding COVID-19 lockdown and social distancing. To analyse and investigate this framework, a range of politicians were selected from across the globe. The concept of the publication responds to the idea that hand gestures are idiosyncratic, and this is most visible when analysing people in similar contexts. The publication contains a design that emphasises the context in which this information situates; the news and YouTube. Its compositions and visual language should enhance the investigative nature of the project.
