AR is a series of conferences organised by neuroscience students and researchers from the Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme, that bring science and the mysteries of the brain to the public.
This instalment of the event was all about Storytelling, and being a stories lover I really had a great time conceiving this visual language. I created several minimalistic icons that represent some of the most well-known stories of our time. The idea was that some people would recognise them right away, and others would take their time and wonder which story they represented. It was an image to interpret and enjoy, just like stories.
For the Learning and Education event I created the title’s lettering with a stamping technique so to give the letters an analogue feel of use and uniqueness. I used different fonts to represent the heterogeneous nature of education, and the icons easily make the connection to the event’s theme. I wanted the whole image to have a strong “hand-made”, analogue look.
For the “analogue/grunge” look I used a tracing technique that gave the typography and symbols a trully handmade feel.
