Resh was recently interviewed for the Oct 2017  Issue of Creative Review by writer/editor Patrick Burgoyne on Virtual Reality and Storytelling. Creating Virtual Reality experiences challenges everything we know about traditional storytelling read Resh's interview and why she finds the challenge so exciting.
“I will never forget it,” says Resh Sidhu of the first time she experienced VR. “It transported me back to being a child again.” We are talking at the offices of Framestore in London, where Sidhu is Creative Director for virtual reality. But it was when she was at agency AKQA that she first encountered VR. AKQA had been among the backers of the original Kickstarter for the Oculus Rift headset. As a result, it received the first developer kit, the DK1, in 2013.
“It arrived in this James Bond-like packing case,” she remembers. “About three of us were standing around thinking ‘Is this it? Is this the future?’” The DK1 came loaded with a virtual rollercoaster simulator. “Yes it was big, yes it was clunky but suddenly I’m on a rollercoaster and my legs have turned to jelly. We ran around the office telling people ‘you’ve got to try this’.”
