Crafting Type Workshop

  • Mairi Brascoupe
In April 2015, I took at 3-day typeface design workshop in Boston with Crafting Type. During this workshop, we started on the first day creating sketches and developed those sketches through consultations and critiques. For the following two days, we worked on our designs on the computer while alternating lectures, critiques and work time. During the course of the workshop, I began developing a font inspired by Japanese brush pens to create a fun sans serif that is legible in both large and small sizes making its usage very flexible. The workshop allowed me to develop my type design skills, specifically in terms of software, while being taught and guided by industry experts.
