Illustrated cover art for three of Venem's releases
Venem aka Jakarri always has great ideas in his mind and he reaches out to me to make them reality. ‘VENEM IS DEAD’ In 2016 Venem decided to drop the stage name and run with his own, Jakarri. This created an opportunity for us to play on the Venom comic book character and the iconic scene within Spiderman. The cover was illustrated in a very similar way to the comic books to be instantly recognisable and finished off with an actual comic book feel, using textures, stickers and logo/name placements.
‘DARK ORIGIN’
With this mixtape artwork, Venem wanted to become a fallen angel with other angels visible over the sky of Richmond, Va. He sent over some reference pictures of him and also some rough sketches to show his idea and we went from there. We ended up creating an official version, which included six extra tracks and also a Mixtape version.
‘NO ANTIDOTE’
For this mixtape artwork, Venem's brief steered me to creating a typographic illustration. To the viewer, this collection of letters mean nothing but to him and his friends/family they have meaning.
Each letter was added and placed one by one. Yes, it took forever! The cover art was put together in greens, and the poster was put together in skin tones. Take a step back and have a look.
