Our take on the classic ballet "Swan Lake" composed by Pyotr Tschaikovsky for Moevir Paris latest print issue. Using extravagant fashion pieces cutting edge hair and make up and a contemporary studio to address the pieces in a modern, yet sophisticated way. The art direction was led by the ballet dancer who used his movement to reshow the raw emotion first created by the composition. To address the ambivalence between the classic piece "swan lake" and the modern improvisation "black swan" we incorporated a gradual shift from the light and the softness of the ballet dancer down to the outright dark and gritty nature of ballet and fashion symbolised in "black swan". With this series we aim to address the conflicts in modern ballet that dancers often face, through fashion, an expressive take on hair and makeup and the articulation of these emotions through motion and mimic.
