A FLAWED RECIPE

  • Elena Panarese
THE BRIEF
The workshop consisted of making a video about water and its importance because it’s in danger because of pollution.

THE IDEA
Water is a limited resource and it needs to be protected, especially because only a minimum percentage is drinkable and the problem of water pollution is often underrated. The main goal was to raise the awareness of that problem. To make this happen, we chose to connect water pollution with food pollution, in order to show how the garbage could affect the quality of the food we eat every day.

The language used is the parody of food spots, with slow motion effects and close-ups to represent a recipe that mixes healthy foods with garbage. That makes the video interesting and funny to the viewers, but the final message is strong enough to make them reflect about the problem.

THE PROCESS
Once the topic of the video has been chosen, we decided how the frames should be, and after the storyboard was completed, we organized the next days in a timetable. In order to make the slow motion effect, we rented a professional high frame rate camera, so we could have a big amount of frames with a high-quality video. We filmed in a private house, where we built a set of lights and panels.
