Having studied under Jacqueline Du Pré, Alfia Nakipbekova is a leading soloist and chamber musician, appearing at major Festivals and concert halls throughout the world. Since 1998 Alfia has taken part in a series of "Bach Marathon" solo recitals, playing all six Bach Suites in one evening. Her interpretation is directly connected with the place she records. Phi was commissioned to design the double album artwork of the Bach Cello Suites (recorded at the 12th century St. Boniface Kirk, Papa Westray, Orkneys) using photography and artwork by Ivanov + Chan of the location.
