You don’t just learn from books, you learn from the experiences that come from being at university. It’s the course, the people, the place and everything in between. My approach to the homepage was to create a design that encouraged future students to explore both sides. I used a combination of storytelling and interweaved calls to action to ensure the users were doing as well as reading.

THE PROCESS

The process began with intimate wireframing sessions with the key stakeholders, establishing what was key content for supporting the university’s objectives and explaining to them what was important from a user’s perspective. I used the session as a basis for the layout and structure of content for the page.
From wireframing, I worked up different design elements and solutions that could shape and mold to house the content in a way that was visually pleasing, engaging and easy to understand. I used a combination of storytelling and interweaved calls to action to ensure the users were doing as well as exploring. MMU had an established but growing pattern library and brand identity, I worked within and outside of these, so the design was not restricted but was still cohesive with the rest of the site.
