Sound Illuminated

SOUND ILLUMINATED is a visual experience capitalising on the beauty of nature. Use your voice to bring water to life with cymatic patterns, artfully outlined by bioluminescent algae,  creating a glowing pool that lights up the street. The campaign's focus is to be a visually stunning experience that illustrates the symbiosis of nature and technology. This will be achieved by creating a magical glowing pool. Anyone will be able to interact with the experience by climbing some steps and singing a single note into a microphone. This then creates cymatics patterns, which are outlined with a blue glow. The microphone will be connected to a computer that will translate the sung note into the closest relative sound that has been pre-recorded to create a perfect cymatic pattern. This will feed into a huge speaker that the pool sits on, so the sound vibrates through the water. The pool will be filled with bioluminescent algae, a natural phonemon, an organisim that lives in water and glows blue when disturbed by movement. The algae will naturally outline each pattern as each cymatic is made from the movement of the water.
