UBUNTU PHONE CALENDAR

  • Lina Pio
Ubuntu needed essential core apps for their phone to allow users to start using their phone straight away.

As design lead for the core apps project, I was directly responsible for the design of three of the core apps: Calendar, Clock and Browser. In this project, the calendar required a design that would take it from the initial sketching and concept stages to a finalised version, ready for visual and development.

To help me through this, I produced a variety of sketches, paper prototypes and Axure prototypes before wireframing a more concrete approach. One of the main considerations when creating a native calendar app, unlike third party apps, is maintaining the right balance between innovative design that would differentiate Ubuntu’s platform and apps from competitors and keeping it so simple that anyone using the OS would understand it.
