Being dyslexic, it was an honour to help curate this list of neurodivergent heros! Are you neurodivergent? We’d love to celebrate you too!

As a neurodivergent woman, while my ‘delightful dyslexia’ has been challenging at times, I've also come to see it as my superpower, and I wouldn’t change it for the world!

With this in mind, I was thrilled to be asked by the amazing @Emma Case @womenbeyondthebox to help curate their list of Top 50 Neurodivergent Women for 2022.

It’s an honour to help amplify the voices of these incredibly inspiring women who are creating ripples of change within their industries by challenging the narrative around neurodiversity.

Head here to meet (and hire, interview, commission) these amazing women! https://the-dots.com/projects/top-50-influential-neurodivergent-women-2022-668262

Do you have a neurodivgent superpower? (ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Tourette's etc). We’d love to celebrate you too! Just pop a reply below :-)

  • Thanks for reminding us of our superpowers @Pip Jamieson.
As a dyslexic myself, it's great to see that there are so many inspiring people sharing their experiences. The things we experience in daily life can be overwhelming when ignored even by ourselves.
  • Great work @Pip Jamieson , being a Dyslexic/Autistic creative myself, I found this most inspiring : )

  • How refreshing to read. To see how open we are to much we can achive from being who we are.
  • Hi!!! I'm a recent MA fashion graduate with ADHD. For my final major project during my master's I focussed on my own neurodiversity with influence of various ND artists and ND friends. It's so great to see so many ND creative women:')
  • Fellow neurodivergents!! especially those who are autistic, I’m doing a free, 2 hour event you may be interested in, all about VISIBILITY for your creative work.

    https://www.the-dots.com/events/how-to-stop-hiding-and-get-visible-as-an-autistic-creative-11738

Visibility can be a source of anxiety and resistance for folks who haven’t felt seen, have dealt with ableism, or have masked your unique traits…

I always say with my coaching clients that: it’s never the work! Your work is never the reason why you aren’t getting the amount of recognition/commissions you want.

If you are interested to have some tools and frameworks for how to show up in a world with a whole new level of self-confidence, this is for you.

Grateful also for any shares to your networks!
  • Yes, I have Dyslexia, thanks for sharing this article.

I am glad to be reminded that it is a super power!
  • I have ADHD, dyspraxia, dyslexia, & autism. Great to see so many neurodivergent people being celebrated!

  • @Pip Jamieson Dyslexia is now a listed skill on LinkedIn, see Richard Branson's blog post here: https://www.virgin.com/branson-family/richard-branson-blog/working-together-to-redefine-dyslexia Great to see it acknowledge as a superpower and not a handycap.
  • hiya, im dyslexic and my daughter is suspeced ASD, id love to get involved if youre still looking. chloe.reallysimple.m@gmail.com
  • This is great! Thank u. I’m neurodivgent. Lots of people keep quite about it but it’s so important to speak up about, the more we do the more the industry recognize us (and be more understanding/accomodating).
  • May I suggest a really useful resource I found on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/NishanthaU/videos

He talks about the 4 cognitive powers of dyslexic brains...
    1. Material reasoning - holding an object in your brain and manipulating it in your mind. e.g. Designing a building/product in your head.
    2. Interconnected reasonsing - fit unrelated concepts together (orthogonal thinking)
    3. Narrative resaoning - conceptualise ideas in a story
    4. Dynamic reasoning - look at many facts and create a prediction

    ... from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyMU4cAMT6c
He has 4 follow up videos too of each in more detail, which I found facinating!
  • I was diagnosed with ADHD last year- it’s great to see so many neurodivergent creatives being celebrated! Our differences are what help us think outside of the box :)
  • I am dyslexic and have ADHD combined type!

Everyday can be a challenge, but finding neurodivergent peers and mentors showed me that it really does not have to be!

Turning it into a superpower instead of a challenge is something we cannot do just by ourselves!!!!

Being accommodated instead of forced to do things the way it has ‘always been done’ allows me to more creative instead of being stuck on trying to grasp what the person is asking of me.

Easy accommodations like written instructions after being given verbal instructions for clarification and/or visual & written examples are not hard to do but can make a world of a difference for us. 💕
