Being dyslexic, it was an honour to help curate this list of neurodivergent heros! Are you neurodivergent? We’d love to celebrate you too!

As a neurodivergent woman, while my ‘delightful dyslexia’ has been challenging at times, I've also come to see it as my superpower, and I wouldn’t change it for the world!

With this in mind, I was thrilled to be asked by the amazing @Emma Case @womenbeyondthebox to help curate their list of Top 50 Neurodivergent Women for 2022.

It’s an honour to help amplify the voices of these incredibly inspiring women who are creating ripples of change within their industries by challenging the narrative around neurodiversity.

Head here to meet (and hire, interview, commission) these amazing women! https://the-dots.com/projects/top-50-influential-neurodivergent-women-2022-668262

  • Delightfully dyspraxic! And happily working for Dyslexia Scotland (Dots profile https://the-dots.com/pages/dyslexia-scotland-459609). New to The Dots but loving the community here.
  • Love that neurodiversity is being celebrated here!

    I am neurodivergent (autistic)

I am an artist, and also coach autistic folks - both 1:1, and in a group programme.

My artistic work explores how non-dominant bodies might invent our own means of self definition. This work then led me to coaching. I also have a podcast (Sensory Siblings) and Discord community
    (www.solasystems.xyz)

I'm all about activating what our unique cognitive stregnths afford us, by less over-adapting to the fiction of "normal" and the structures built upon it!

  • I love the way this post has so many replies. Such a positive way to highlight neurodivergency. Thanks Pip!
  • I love, love this Pip, what an amazing list AND message! My husband is dyslexic and he taught me a lot about some preconceptions and misconceptions people have about neurodiversity - love reframing it as truly a superpower!

  • I’m dyslexic and I also have an auditory processing disorder, which makes me double dyslexic.
  • She doesn't have a profile on here, but I'll mention her anyway.

    Brilliant individual called KK Harris:

She's been exploring neurodiversity (and discussing the subject on podcasts, radio and on Linkedin) since being diagnosed with ADHD only last year.
  • I am Dyslexic ADHD proud even tho i struggle daily been trying to find a mentor for weeks with no success just to help me with a new project just hard to find one in my area. Any one who lives in Cheshire that can help. Please with a cherry on top. You will not be disappointed 🙂. I run a small business work part time as a caretaker local council and doing training for board readiness program for local housing association.
  • Happy neurodiversity week Pip! We were doing a talk today about all things Amazing Dyslexic at an advertising agency, and mentioned you and your 'delightfully dyslexic' email ender as a top tip. I'd love to celebrate @Kathy Forsyth @Ali Clifford @Lennie Varvarides @Marcia Brissett-Bailey for starters... have got lots more to add too :)
  • I’ve never been able to read or write and spelling was my demon. I was schooled in the 80’s and you where just classes as stupid and most of the time told you are .

Last year I found out I have dyslexia and a reading disorder ( which name escapes me).

Found out the same day as I got an MBE, would love to see my old teachers!!.
Thankfully phones and computers make it allot easier these days and although my grammar is awful I feel I can work well with myself
  • Dyslexia. Proud but still have days when the thought of how many spelling and grammar errors I have missed scares me but hey.
  • On a 20-point dyslexia checklist, I ticked 18 characteristics. But not spelling, my strong point.
So, as a physically clumsy guy, maybe it's dyspraxia?
Looking back, I can see why conventional school was a poor fit. Classwork rested on memory, with little time for comprehension, questions and 'joining the dots'. Years later an excellent BBC training, OU passes and success in community leadership jobs, restored long-lost self-esteem.
I'm comfortable with my mind. So what if I don't know the pesky day of the week? I revel in music, art, emotion, friendships, am forever curious. Yes, as Pip so ably demonstrates, this individuality is a gift!
  • I'm autistic and proud! Being autistic is an integral part of who I am and has helped shape my passion for justice. I'm a co-founder of we're all human (WAH). We campaign for digital accessibility and want accessibility to be a priority from the start of design processes. We provide tips and information to designers to help them design in ways that don't exclude Neurodivergent and Disabled people. https://www.instagram.com/wereallhuman.uno/
  • Dyslexic and struggling. I don't get how people say it's a super power when it makes spelling and reading difficult.
High chance of being ADD as well ...but on a long waiting list for a test.
  • Yes! Dyspraxic Director of Photography here - it’s presented me with many challenges throughout the years but I also like to think it’s helped me with my creativity and blessed me with a keen eye for visuals
