If I could improve one thing on The Dots to further help your career, what would it be?

We’re always looking for ways to improve The Dots to make it even easier for you to promote yourself, connect, collaborate and carve out the career path of your dreams.

I'd absolutely love your feedback on ways we can improve things!

This could be improvements to our job section, ask forum, events hub, how you create your profile, promoting your work – or anything in between.

All feedback gratefully received :-)

  • @Andria Andreou check out freelanceacademy.com - transformed my freelancing.
  • I love the whole concept and idea of the Dots and it would be great if it offered more international opportunities and wouldn't be focused mostly on the UK.
  • Considering the hard times we all are living, a good idea could be to connect companies looking for COVID19-related stories with filmmakers, photographers or editors through a special initiative or something similar.
There are a lot of free webinars, and it's ok, but freelancers also need to pay bills, so getting gigs is a priority now more than ever.
  • Love love love The Dots! The only thing I’d like to suggest is allowing us to save job searches/posts on mobile devices! That way if I’m scrolling and searching, I can save a job I’m looking at and find it easily later when I go to apply. Thank you :)
  • @Pip Jamieson , it's not only regular spammers. Lately it have been the people with fake profile and url's going to porn sites... it's not the end of the world, but some steps when creating one's profile to ensure you are "real" person and within the creative fields could solve that?
    – Maybe a check by your system, that the field for filling in your Website Url, under the About section, is field with an url that's not "totally inappropriate", as @Rachael Seymour mentioned below?
But also great if you could find a way to stimulate people to fill their profile with some info to help others, to get some idea what they are about, when they send you a invite to connect. Quite many have nothing in their profile.
    – Or maybe an option to follow people instead, could solve that.
  • @Rachael Seymour Gosh I'm so sorry about that! We have a strict take down policy when it come to spammers, if you ever get a strange message just drop help@the-dots.com a note - and we'll delete their profile immediately! I'm also going to chat to my lovely team re how to make the report button more obvious! So sorry again, I hate spammers!
  • Security and fake profiles.
I have recently had so many people trying to connect with me, which have false details, and their sites are totally inappropriate. FYI - I also couldn’t see an easy way to report this either. Please can this be rectified ASAP, better security measures need to be in place to prevent this happening.
  • Hi Pip, the platform is awesome, but it would be really, really helpful if „remote“ would be available as a location to filter for - especially in the current situation.

  • Better inbox functionality :) Search, mark as unread etc
  • Just wanted to firstly extend my appreciation for creating this app/platform/free space. So thanks.

My slight rendition/addition would be a more hands-on collaboration with industry movers and shakers or startup firms.
The way I use the Dots right now, is more of a rec-to-rec app; so that being said, when is the Dots going to have its own workshop in collaboration with probably a major publisher/gallery/clothing brand, etc.
