  • also a little frustrating when say im looking deep into more projects) then when you seek to go back to look at other projects you have to start from the begining of the 3 first projects then keep clikcig more projects more projects more projects to get deeper to the ones you need, so if im seeking to edit my own portfolio and perhaps remove some older projects it takes forever, (e.g all my drafted projects have been listed which i didnt want so will take a long while to go through and remove them having drafter projects were useful because they reminded me of what i plan on posting and so could come back to and finidh editing no longer see that option) i see side hustles are well and truely gone too

perhaps a way to filter the projects based on skills/style e.g photography/graphic design/illustration or perhaps a portfolio overview option otherwise editig your own profile will be difficult
  • Projects listed dont seem to be in cronalogical order, and i dont seem to be able to edit or drag them around to put certain projects into focus,

It would be interesting if the cover image/headliner bar (where mine at the very top was entirely based on portfolio projects and it just automatically switched inbetween all your portfolio projects, that way it gives a preview of various projects automatically that change every second or two so if any one is only giving some ones portfolio a quick look over straight away it shows the richness of peoples work/projects
  • i think i like that the project profile pictures are smaller, invited you to click through project if you actually are interested and discover more, where as before perhaps because the pictures were fairly big people may just gloss over the profiles projects and take that as it is, i like how it visually looks but do wish some of the parts look up less space, like skills could be one or two lines then the {show more} available, because lists of skills doesnt feel so useful unless those skills list were linked to our portfolio projects so if they click on art direction it takes them to all your projects you showcase your art direction, if you clicked on photography it shows just the projects in photography. if there was a quick easy way to filter the projects tagged to these key skills
  • @Simon Carter Pip .. The more I look at the greyed out background image the more i HATE THIS CHANGE. The image I uploaded was on of the best, most subtle still life images I have shot illuxtrating the natural beauty of a Nautilus shell .. Now iit looks like something floating in a septic tank.
  • would like it if there were more projects shown, 9-12 or automatically load as you scroll down so thats the focus of my profile, the work you do rather then just the 2-3 i imagine many just scroll quickly and may not even have the energy to press show more, it would help feel like work is whats important.

im unable to edit on the left hand side and change avialability.

once you click into a project (aware this hasnt changed) when you scroll to the bottom it highlights explore projects, would be nice if that section was reflective of each indivudals portfolios so that you can easily click onto another project of who evers profile portfolio you are looking through rather then returning and then clicking into next profile etc,

could have the current row below that saying explore more of the dots etc.

also maybe on the side bar on the left could have the questions asked/answered/topics people are engaged with so its highlighting community engagemnet

  • Hi Pip,

    A few points:

    - Just as you can pull information from Behance for your portfolio you should be able to do the same for work history, skills, recommendations, education, awards should be pulled from LinkedIn. It is a waste of time writting the same information again and again for different platforms.

    - The portfolio section should not be minimised to 3 projects. That is the absolutely essential information for designers and creatives. Anything else should be minimised like collaborations or which comapnies I've worked with.

    - The thing is I can't state which companies I've worked with as they are not on your platform and forcing people to join just to fill out that part of the profile seems excessive. You should be able to just add it without them being on your platform.

    - Again great that you are encouraging collaborations with other creatives, but having this with people only on this network feels forced and excessive. You should be able to add anyone whther they are on your platform or not.

And feedback on the emails sent via The Dots
    - When we get emails from companies we are following on the Dots, it would be great to have the content inside the email rather than clicking off to the website to read what the event is about. I end up ignoring so many of my emails because of this. It would make the emails more efficient and fulfil the purpose of letting me know what the event title is and what it's about. I can click to the site to find out even more if I'm interested.
  • Mine is perfectly OK, I haven't completed it because I pay a portfolio In cargocollective still. But my idea is finish my new Wix web and centralise everything there, and this profile in The Dots helps me to find jobs in the UK, a dream if it appears something suitable for me.
  • Hi Pip.

    I REALLY don't like this.

There is a grey tone over my background picture that KILLS it. That image is central to my branding across all my social media channels. It should be in the right tone and colour so that it is recognisable as me.

I can only see two of my projects so ssume others can only see two aswell.. WTF?
I have my best wotk on display and only two pieces are able to be viewed on foirst sight . you have to go digging to see the rest? Taht isd REALLY bad thinking..

I get the impression that the wrong questions were asked at the initial design planning meetings and the revision concept went through without anyone thinking the implications through .. or even asking us the contributores what we thought.
  • Looks good- I don't have any current work or collaborations to show so it looks a little thin- but that's on me not you!
  • Ah I just saw the three dots ... next to 'Edit' where you can 'Preview' your profile and see it how everyone else does. Thanks
  • Hi Pip,

I think the new design is looking very sleek and pleasing navigate and look at.

But sadly I don’t really like the way the projects we post now appear.
It seems all the cover photos are now squared, which doesn’t make reading the photos obvious, and navigating the portfolio seems a bit less interesting to me now.

I loved how clean and eye-catching this part was in the previous design, I thought it really created an emphasis on those projects, making them very central.

Hoping this is a helpful feedback.
    Best,
    Maxime
  • The page looks much more organised. The categories makes it easier to find what your looking for an overall looks amazing,

Thank you @Pip Jamieson and the rest of the team.
  • Hi Pip, I like the more compact design and the 'About me' section at the top.

    A few problems:
    - One of my projects isn't showing on the desktop version, it's showing on the app version though.
    - I liked the previous feature of being able to re-order the projects, can't seem to do that now.

    Possible improvement:
    - Right now, because the 'Add project' and 'Find projects' buttons take up the space of one of the projects, you don't see your profile how everyone else does.
  • Hi Pip,

    My thoughts:
    - It feels better organised so from that aspect it's a great change
    - I would love to see it more responsive, I had a look on a small laptop but still there is quite a big amount of white space on the edges
    - not particuralry for this update but generally it would be great if people could view profiles and portfolio without having an account
