Breitling are, without doubt, one of the most forward thinking and innovative brands operating in the luxury watch market today. Their corporate social responsibility work is incredible, working with numerous partners to minimise their own impact to the environment whilst promoting this message to others. One part of this was their recent Econyl x Outerknown strap collection launch. Breitling have had an on-going partnership with Outerknown, the sustainable fashion brand founded by Breitling ambassador and world champion surfer Kelly Slater, for a few years now – most notably launching special Outerknown editions of their popular watch. Through this partnership, Breitling were introduced to Econyl – a fantastic nylon made entirely by repurposing old, discarded fishing nets into usable fabric. Putting two and two together, Breitling developed a line of luxury NATO watch straps in partnership with Outerknown; the perfect addition to personalising any Breitling watch. Spring were tasked with producing a product anthemic film which would communicate this message in a visual, light-hearted manner. Below are the assets created by Spring, including the 30s product film and 15s 9:16 social cutdown. This is followed by some of their product photographer and CSR film (produced by Breitling) which explains a little more background on how the straps are made. The product film was shot at Spring, with the products individually photographed and built as a stop-motion edit in After Effects.
